Long Exposure – Reflections on Little Harbor

In February 2012, I was just starting to get the hang of these long exposure images. On this particular day, I had gone out in hopes of capturing Gerry Island at sunset. While I started to photograph the island and little harbor surrounding it, my eye quickly latched on to the collection of houses along Fort Sewall Terrace that faced the harbor. A Puffin? In Marblehead?!

On Tuesday, a fan of my site asked if I ever photographed wildlife - especially birds. I admitted that I had never been interested in shooting birds - it is an incredibly challenging (and expensive) branch of photography that requires inordinate patience. Curves in the Water Lead to Brown’s Island

It's Tuesday and that can only mean another Long Exposure image to share with you today (well, that and a pretty important election...). Today's image comes from the day before Superstorm Sandy arrived. Dawn over Little Harbor and Marblehead Light

On Saturday morning, I decided to wake up early in hopes that the predicted 35 degree temps would lead to some nice mist/fog coming off the ponds. I drove by Redds and Black Joes but neither was 'misting' nor were there good colors to speak of. Long Exposure – Rocks Leading to Gerry Island

It's Tuesday and time for another Long Exposure image. In mid-February, I drove out at sunset with the the aim of shooting some long exposure images. The sky held promise with scattered clouds and the sunset did not disappoint. This was the outing in which I captured one of my favorite images - Doaks Lane Sunset. From the Air – Little Harbor

If you saw my post last Tuesday, you'll know the back story to how this photo came to be. If not, I highly recommend reading that first and then coming back to this image. As we flew over Marblehead harbor, I quickly took some photos looking down over Little Harbor. Morning Comes to Little Harbor

In early December, I ventured out at sunrise to explore the light and various spots in town. As I drove through Old Town, I found myself at the small launch near the Marblehead Lobster Company off Orne Street. Docked in Little Harbor

For good or bad, this Winter without snow is forcing me to go back into the archives to try to remember what Winter should feel like.
