A late entry this morning and one that complements the image from Monday. After racing to shoot the great colors of dawn and finding someone digging for clams, I kept walking and looking for strong compositions with this guy in the water. When I got behind him and saw this view of a lone person in the vastness of the ocean, I knew I had found what I wanted. The boat in the distance seems to balance the scene perfectly.
I had to get up early on Friday morning for an electronic medical record meeting at a local hospital. As I got dressed and ready for the day, I looked at the window and saw an incredible display of pinks and purples lighting up the sky. In keeping with this week's holiday lights theme, here is a photo taken in front of Mud Puddle Toys. On December, 2nd, shortly after the town's tree lighting, I made my way over to historic downtown Marblehead to witness the annual Lobster Trap Tree lighting at Mud Puddle Toys. I had missed this tradition my first two years in town and was happy to have made it down to experience this scene. Best of Show - Marblehead Festival of Arts 2012 Every once in a while, an opportunity comes along that reignites my creativity and makes me incredibly grateful for having started this photographic project...last night was just such a night. What an incredible game! I found a spot along the far goalpost and set up with my longest lens. Was very fortunate to catch two of Marblehead's scores including a great run by Will Quigley. Awesome game boys!
It's local business Friday and this is one of the newest businesses in town - Standup paddle-boarding. This new approach to exploring the harbors in town came on to the scene at the end of June and really took off. I was on Brown's Island when I saw this group float by and took this photo to illustrate just how close you can get to various landmarks by paddle-boarding. Plus, as the weather cools, it is nice to be reminded of the amazing options that abound in the Summer. Stay warm...
Yesterday's post featured a close up of the houses on Cliff Street at sunset. As I composed that shot, two kayakers started out from Riverhead beach and made their way to the waters in the foreground. They then took a few minutes rest and I promptly recomposed my shot to include them in the frame. I liked the sense of scale they offer to the image as well as the slight change in perspective. I really need to rent a kayak and try this myself next Summer.
