A Star atop Abbot Hall – Happy New Year from Wednesdays in Marblehead

One last image to finish up an incredible year of capturing and sharing my images of Marblehead. I had noticed that the star on the Marblehead Trading Company crane seemed to line up awfully close to the top of Abbot Hall when I crossed the causeway and had made a note to try to return at sunset to capture this image. Snow in Marblehead – Little Harbor

I mentioned in yesterday's post the the seasonably cold temperatures had started to put me in the mindset of snow and, having not had any storms to shoot yet, left me to explore the archive of to-be-posted images. Fall Colors and Abbot Hall

On October 26, I had headed out to capture the Halloween Race in the harbor. After shooting the boats with their multicolored sails passing in front of Abbot Hall, I decided to head across the causeway and over to Crocker Park for one last check of the Fall colors. The Surfer on Devereux Beach

On November 3rd, the same night during which I captured the causeway and harbor under great light and a clammer in the ocean, I also found this guy surfing in the waters off Devereux Beach. As he came out of the water around sunset, I found the human element added greatly to the view of Marblehead Neck beyond. I captured this frame with the surfboard parallel to the ground and reflecting some light which helped focus the viewers eye on the relatively small surfer and thereby add a sense of scale to the scene beyond. Persephone and the Empty Harbor

I mentioned in yesterday's post of the Beaver Moon rising over Marblehead Harbor that I had arrived a bit early at the Boston Yacht Club and was keeping myself busy while waiting for the moon to rise by photographing other elements in the harbor. Fall Colors on Marblehead Neck

October brought with it cool nights and changing colors to the trees in Marblehead. I would go out periodically looking for new vantage points from which to capture those beautiful Fall colors. Rays of Light over Goldthwait Beach

Continuing with the great light featured this week, this is a shot from the afternoon of Sept 13th. Storms seem to be missing us to the north and south on this particular day and I headed out in hopes of capturing the storms from a distance. Patriotism on the corner of Harris and Mugford Streets

It's hard to believe that the Marblehead Festival of Arts took place two weeks ago. On July 6th, I walked with my family around the streets of Old Town to shop and look at the many varied exhibits. As we made our way from the Unitarian Universalist Church towards Old Town House, I looked to my right and noted the abundance of patriotism on display. These house are situated at the corner of Mugford and Harris Streets and, between the bright colors, beautiful landscaping and Betsy Ross flag on display, the scene was too nice to pass up. Cliff Street Houses and Abbot Hall at Sunrise

Can you believe this was the scene that I woke to on May 6, 2012? I had gotten up early that day hoping to catch the moonset but the clouds at the horizon made that a wasted effort.
