Keep it Local – Captn’s Bakery

This week's Keep it Local entry is one of the newer businesses in town - Captn's Bakery on Washington Street. Captn's Bakery opened in early June at the site of the Sea Gull gift shop. Since opening their doors, the bakery has been turning out artisans breads, bagels, pastries, cupcakes and always seems crowded (at least every time I pass by). The Brick House on Doaks Lane

I decided to visit the archives for today's image and looked at shots taken one year ago in June but not yet posted to the web. This one jumped out at me and I had to use it. There was something very mesmerizing about this brick house when I noticed it on Doak's lane one sunset day in June. I think wat struck me was the perfectly tall, thin and symmetrical face of this house. Especially in contrast to the asymmetry in the road below. Fishing off Preston Beach

This day has put me in a monochrome mood and this is a recent favorite in black and white. I was out at Preston beach at the end of May shooting the sunset and some long exposures when I saw this guy make his way out to the edge of the rocks. Long Exposure – Stramski Pier Reflecting in the Water

Rainbow over the Ocean at Devereux Beach

We had a great fast storm roll through on Friday with lightning and rain. I arrived home from work just as the storm passed and ran inside to grab my camera. Keep it Local – Grown Ups 2

As many of you know, the movie Grown Ups 2 is filming in town and will be closing Lafayette street today to shoot a scene that may look a lot like the one you see above. Waves at Devereux Beach (intentional camera movement)

A bit of an abstract image on this dreary morning. I went down to Devereux in mid-May and shot a number of images in the fog. Afterwards, I practiced a bit more with 'intentional camera movement'. I set the shutter speed long enough to be able to sweep the camera horizontally and bring movement to the water. I managed to catch this wave coming to shore with the perfect amount of white foam and nice texture in the distant water.

Fishing in the Storm

We had a short break from the rain on Sunday and so I took my son out to Fort Sewall for some exploration. The sea was choppy and large waves crashed on the rocks as we were there at high tide. When we reached the edge of the hill, we noticed this lone fisherman on the rocks. His perch was precarious and the waves crashed all around him. Long Exposure – Grace Community Church

On the same day that I would capture a long exposure image of Our Lady Star of the Sea, I managed to get this image of clouds streaking over Grace Community Church. I had driven down Pleasant Street on countless mornings hoping to capture this church in the early morning light and without cars stopped in front. The Happy Place on Bass Rock Lane

I had gone out last weekend at 8pm to chase some wispy clouds that held promise for a decent sunset. I realized fairly quickly that the sunset would come faster than expected and I therefore drove down Clifton Avenue and across Atlantic Avenue to get to Surf Street.
